If you love rugby, whether as an existing player, potential player or supporter, the Steelers has something for you!

Steelers Coach
Ian "Iggy" Samuel-Smith:

"As the Club Coach, I am predominately looking to recruit experienced players who can enhance our first team. Specifically we are hoping to recruit experienced front row players, to set up a platform to launch our exciting and dynamic back line. Our first team has a tough and exciting season ahead, in Essex Division II, and whilst we have the squad to play competitive rugby to challenge for the top half of the table, we are lacking depth in a few positions. Having said that, we are always looking to recruit potential players of any age, experience, ability and fitness. The more players we have to challenge for 2nd and 1st team places, the stronger the club will be.

"The club trains twice a week on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Monday evening training is for the whole squad to work on fitness, conditioning and improving the core skills; passing, tackling, rucking and mauling. We also have a dedicated team of development coaches who work with new players and also work on improving specific skills for experienced players. Wednesday evening is specifically for game play, and is open to players who have the experience and/or ability to play in 1st or 2nd team matches; scrummaging, line outs, continuity and game planning".
